Agreement The Hindu
In a sign of growing maritime proximity between New Delhi and Washington, New Delhi welcomed the Maldives government`s decision to sign a military agreement with the United States, the first to sign Male with a country other than India. In the past, New Delhi had reticent both the United States and China to expand their strategic footprint in this part of the Indian Ocean, considered India`s «sphere of influence.» A maritime information agreement is also being actively discussed between India and the United States, according to the source. Once concluded, India will enter into agreements with all quad countries – Australia, Japan and the United States. «Both sides are convinced that this cooperation will contribute to the development of their relations and to raising awareness, especially among young people, of the history and culture of the people of both countries and agree to promote cooperation to improve and strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries,» the agreement states. The Minister believes that economic growth resulting from globalization is not good enough for India. An «honest» self-assessment of these commercial and economic performance is necessary to show the costs that India has paid for its economic success: if globalization, especially trade, is assessed in the broader context of its overall effects on society, the costs could reap considerable benefits. These costs are «deindustrialization.» This «job challenge» was created by trade. These trade agreements have made India «excessively dependent on imports.» On 27 October, India and the United States signed the Cooperation and Exchange Agreement (BECA) during the third two-and-a-half dialogue between the defence and foreign ministers of the two countries. This is the fourth and final of the basic agreements concluded by the two countries, starting with GSOMIA (General Security of Military Information Agreement) in 2002, LEMOA (Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement) in 2016, COMCASA (Communications compatibility and Security Agreement) in 2018 and now BECA. The agreements with the UK and Vietnam are under discussion, one of the sources said. The agreement with Russia, Mutual Logistics Assistance (ARLS), is expected to be signed at the bilateral summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin in mid-October, Roman Babushkin, deputy head of the Russian embassy`s mission in India, said earlier this week. But what is India`s debt in terms of potential to delay growth be attributed to trade agreements? This case, proposed by Mr. Jaishankar, is problematic.
India`s export growth has soared in recent years. The Narendra Modi government`s «strong rupee» approach is one of the main causes that has been shown to have slowed exports. The real effective exchange rate has increased by about 20% since 2014. It is not a subsidy from other countries to their exporters. This is a subsidy granted by the Modi government to exporters from other countries. If imports – such as holidays and higher education abroad – have exploded, it is because the exchange rate has made them more affordable. Strategic relations between India and Israel have changed qualitatively since Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s historic visit to Israel three years ago in July 2017. Ambassador Singla said after the signing of the agreement that the agreement would give new impetus to the development of relations between citizens. NITI Aayog`s studies of trade agreements show that Indian exporters face twice as much logistical, compliance and transaction costs in other countries. This lightness of activity compared to other exporting countries has further undermined the competitiveness of Indian exports.
